๐ด Saturday Club Ride โ This Weekend!
A big one this Saturday, and we’re very much here for it! ๐ช And don’t forget โ summer hours are here, which means we’re rolling at 9:00am sharp! ๐ Set those alarms accordingly!
We head out from Southbroom School at 9am for an 85km ride with around 600m of climbing โ overcast skies and 11ยฐC means prime cycling weather. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right. ๐ฅ๏ธ
We head north out of Devizes and immediately get into the action with a solid climb up past Bishops Cannings toward the ridge โ one of those efforts that wakes the legs up nicely and earns you the views. From there we drop down toward Calne and Quemerford before sweeping out through the quiet lanes of Bremhill and the pretty village of Tytherton Lucas. The route then pushes north toward the Somerford area before one of the highlights of the whole ride โ the famous Maud Heath’s Causeway, a 16-mile ancient pathway that makes for genuinely beautiful cycling. ๐๏ธ We loop back south through Studley and the lanes above Melksham before the familiar finale through Semington and home.
โ Coffee stop this week is at Mind Tree Cafรฉ in Rowde โ perfectly placed to refuel before the final push back. Well earned after those northern lanes!
๐งฅ Kit tip: 11 degrees and overcast โ base layer, gilet, and a decent pair of gloves. You might not need the winter jacket but you’ll be grateful for the extra layer on that early climb. Check your mudguard bolts too โ just in case! ๐ง
As always the ride is weather dependent โ but honestly, 11 and cloudy is a perfectly good excuse to get out there. Crisp air, quiet lanes, great company. That’s what Saturday mornings are for. ๐
9am start โ don’t be late! ๐ดโโ๏ธ
