We ride every Saturday morning throughout the year and during the summer we attempt to ride during the week. We also have a private Facebook & WhatsApp group where members can organise a ride when they want.
Saturday Group Rides
Saturday morning ride is at 9am, we meet outside Southbroom Infants School by the Green. The routes are normally between 65km to 75km with a cafe stop towards the end of the route. We also try to have two groups, one for the faster riders that like to average between 17-20 mph and one for the more social riders averaging around 15 mph.
During the summer months we also do Tuesday night hill reps on Milk Hill and Alton Barnes, alternating between the two and aim for 3 reps on each, more if you’re feeling strong. We meet at Cannings Hill Garage at 5:40pm. Once the reps are done we then regroup at the bottom of the hill in the layby and then ride back to town.
How To Take Part
We normally post the Saturday group rides on Tuesdays evenings on the website, our Facebook page and private group, WhatsApp and send out an email to all current members. If you’re interested in joining us on a ride, please contact us and let us know that you’re attending. Our rides and events are open to all, but we hope you’ll become a member of our Club! To make sure everyone has a good ride, stays safe and enjoys themselves, we have some rules for those taking part in our group rides:
- Wear a helmet! If you don’t, you don’t ride with us.
- Look after your bike! Make sure you’re bike is road worthy, you should also bring kit to fix your own punctures.
- Be nice! We don’t tolerate bullying or any other antisocial behaviour. Banter is fine.
- Know the basic call outs! Riding in a group is great fun and easier than riding on your own. But it also requires that you follow some simple rules. Call out potholes or anything dangerous on the road, signal if turning. If you don’t know the call outs, please ask a committee member.
Please read our more detailed rules before joining our rides.
