A number of members have enquired whether Club rides will be suspended in the coming weeks/months.
The committee has considered this question and feel that as we are affiliated to British Cycling, we should follow their advice:
‘….Our recommendation to clubs is that no organised activity (including rides, training, coaching, events) should take place during this period, in line with government advice on social gatherings and non-essential travel.
However, staying active is really important at this time and riding a bike is a great way to aid your physical and mental health. Provided you follow the advice on social distancing and good hygiene, it is important to remain active and get out on your bike when you can.’
Thus, all Club rides and other events/activities will be suspended for the foreseeable future. We will keep in touch through email and social media but please do not hesitate to raise any questions or queries.
Also, in view of the ongoing uncertainty, we have decided that we will postpone the Club Sportive planned for September, probably until the autumn of 2021. We would wish to thank the Club members who had volunteered to assist in this event and trust we can count on your help and support for next year.
Finally, the Committee wish to thank all members for your continued support and commitment and hope that you and your families keep safe during these unprecedented difficult times. If any members are experiencing difficulties, whilst we cannot give any guarantees, please feel free to contact a committee member, in confidence, and we will do what we can to help and support you.
