🚴 This Week’s Ride: Marlborough & the Vale Loop — Main Group, Saturday
Big miles on the menu this week! We’re heading out for a cracking ~77km loop through some of the best lanes Wiltshire has to offer. From Southbroom School we roll out through Etchilhampton and Patney into the Pewsey Vale, before climbing up towards Burbage and skirting the edge of Savernake Forest — expect a bit of huff and puff here, but the views are worth it.
From there it’s on past Crofton (yes, kettle on for the pumping station crowd) and through Great Bedwyn before dropping into Marlborough, one of Wiltshire’s finest market towns. We loop back via Manton and Lockeridge, with a well-earned coffee and cake stop at Honeystreet Café before the final run home through Horton and back into Devizes.
The good news: the forecast is looking properly kind to us — sunshine and warmer temps with lighter winds, about as good as September gets. Still worth a light layer for the early miles, but this one should be a joy.
📍 Meet at Southbroom School
