Saturday 15th August Club Ride

This Saturday’s Ride: Horton, Tidworth & Everleigh Loop ☀️

Big one on the cards this week! The Main Group heads out from Southbroom School at 9:00am for an 82km loop that takes us out through Horton and Pewsey, down towards Milston and Bulford, into Tidworth, and out to the quiet lanes around Everleigh before looping back home.

The main test of the legs comes around the 57km mark on Marlborough Road — a proper climb that’ll get the heart rate up before rewarding you with a lovely roll back down towards Wilcot. All in, expect somewhere north of 330m of climbing across the day, so it’s not a route to underestimate, but nothing the group can’t handle together.

The forecast is about as good as it gets — 26°C, barely any chance of rain, and a light 13mph breeze. Sun cream, plenty of water, and your best summer kit are the order of the day.

Coffee stop: [TBC] ☕ — details to follow, but you know there’ll be cake waiting.

Whether you’re chasing Strava segments or just here for the company (and the cake), this is a great one to test yourself on. See you at Southbroom School, 9am sharp! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Saturday 8th August Club Ride

🚴 Saturday Main Group Ride – 8th August 🚴

Get the legs warmed up — this week’s route is a big one at ~84km, with 300m+ of climbing to keep things honest along the way.

We set off from Southbroom School at 9:00am, heading out via Horton before making our way north towards Calne. The main event of the day comes just beyond there: Labour-In-Vain Hill, a proper leg-tester of a climb, but you’ll have the Cherhill White Horse and Lansdowne Monument looking down on you for encouragement (or judgement — you decide 😅). From the top it’s on to Beckhampton, right on the edge of Avebury’s ancient landscape, before we turn back for home.

Along the way we’ll stop off at Honeystreet Café ☕🍰 for a well-earned break — you’ll have earned every bit of that cake by then. From there it’s the final stretch back into Devizes.

Forecast is looking gorgeous ☀️ — 26°C, low humidity, light winds and only a small chance of rain. Sunscreen and a decent water supply are the priority this week — this one will work up a thirst!

Big day, big views, and a proper sense of achievement waiting at the top of that hill. Come and join us! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Saturday 1st August Club Ride

🚴 Saturday Main Group Ride – 1st August 🚴

This week’s route is a proper summer stretch of the legs — ~80km with around 420m+ of climbing (and yes, that “+” is doing some work)

We roll out from Southbroom School at 9:00am, heading out via Dunkirk Hill before making our way across towards Sells Green. From there it’s up onto the downs near Lockeridge and East Kennet, where the route throws a proper climb up onto the high ground. Bag that one and it’s a lovely swoop back down into the valley.

We’ll loop through Woodborough and into the Vale of Pewsey for a well-earned stop at Honeystreet Café ☕🍰 — perfectly timed for whatever’s left in the legs after that climb. From there it’s the homeward stretch via Patney and Monument Hill, back into Devizes.

Weather looks lovely ☀️ — partly cloudy, a warm high of 24°C, with a west wind around 16km/h. Light layers, sunscreen, and plenty of water is the order of the day — that wind might have something to say to us on the way home though, so don’t be shy with a bottle each.
