🚴♀️ Saturday Main Ride – The Pewsey Vale & Beyond Loop 🚴♂️
80km of classic Wiltshire countryside awaits! Starting from Southbroom School at 9am, we’ll head out through Patney and into the beautiful Pewsey Vale, then loop through quiet lanes and rolling downland before our well-deserved coffee stop at the Rowdey Cow.
Perfect autumn riding conditions forecast – overcast skies at 15°C with gentle 11mph winds and just a slight chance of a shower (25%). Ideal temperature for keeping comfortable on those longer climbs, and the cloud cover means no squinting into morning sun!
Distance: 80km | Elevation: Rolling Wiltshire hills (~175m range)

Coffee Stop: Rowdey Cow (the cake is calling!)
This route showcases the best of our local countryside – from the Vale of Pewsey’s gentle slopes to those satisfying climbs that make the coffee taste even better. Come join us for a proper Saturday adventure! 🌾☕
74km with rolling hills through classic Wiltshire countryside! Starting from Southbroom School at 9am, we’ll wind our way through gorgeous villages including Lacock (hello, historic abbey!), up the challenging Bowden Hill, then sweep through Cherhill and past the famous Avebury stone circle area.
With partly cloudy skies forecast (18°C, light winds at 24mph), it’s perfect autumn riding weather – just enough breeze to keep you cool on the climbs! Coffee stop will be well-earned after those undulating lanes through East Kennett.

Perfect for a leisurely Saturday morning! 41km of gentle rolling countryside, starting from Southbroom School at 9am. We’ll cruise through quiet lanes via Patney and Woodborough, with beautiful views across the Vale of Pewsey.

🚴♀️ SATURDAY MAIN RIDE 🚴♂️
Ready for an adventure this weekend? We’ve got a brilliant 69km loop that’ll take us on a scenic tour of some of Wiltshire’s most charming villages!
📍 Start: Southbroom School, 9am sharp
📏 Distance: 69km
⛰️ Elevation: 550m (with a cheeky climb up to 200m near Manton!)
We’ll be winding our way through Etchilhampton, Burbage, Woodborough, Wilcot, and Patney – a proper countryside tour that showcases the best of our local lanes. The route takes us along some lovely quiet roads, with that satisfying climb near Manton Drove around the 30km mark to get the legs working properly.
☕ Coffee Stop: Honeystreet Cafe – perfect timing for warming up with a proper brew and slice of something delicious!
The forecast is calling for light rain and chilly conditions, so this is definitely a day for extra layers! But you know what they say – there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing. Plus, that coffee and cake at Honeystreet will taste twice as good after battling the elements together.
Nothing beats the satisfaction of completing a proper ride when others are staying tucked up indoors – and the group camaraderie is always at its best when we’re all in it together!

🚴♀️ Saturday Club Rides – 6th September 🚴♂️
Autumn is knocking on the door 🍂 – Saturday is looking 19 degrees, mostly cloudy and breezy, perfect conditions to get some steady miles in before the season changes.
We’ve got two routes planned this week:
Heading out past Woodborough ➡️ Pewsey ➡️ Easton Royal ➡️ Burbage ➡️ Crofton ➡️ Chisbury ➡️ Marlborough ➡️ Lockeridge, before a fun drop down Milk Hill 🎉. We’ll then refuel at Honey Street Café with coffee and cake, before returning via Allington and Horton Road.
A gentle social spin taking us from Devizes ➡️ Rowde ➡️ Worton ➡️ Potterne ➡️ Patney ➡️ Beechingstoke, with a coffee stop at Honey Street Café ☕🍰. Perfect for keeping the legs turning without too many hills!
📍 Start: Usual meeting point, 9am sharp

🚴♂️ Saturday Main Ride – Charity Challenge Support Ride – EARLY START 8AM 🚴♂️
This Saturday 30th August we’ll be riding in support of Paul Elston, who’s taking on a huge virtual Ironman-style challenge over three days to raise money for charity, he’ll be doing:
🏊 2.4 mile swim – Friday 29th
🚴 112 mile ride – Saturday 30th
🏃 26.2 mile run – Sunday 31st
For the Saturday ride, Paul will be completing a 2-lap, 112 mile course at a steady 16mph average pace – aiming for a 7 hour ride time.
🔹 Start: 8:00am from Southbroom School
🔹 Route: Southbroom ➡️ Bishop’s Cannings ➡️ Cherhill ➡️ Royal Wootton Bassett ➡️ Dauntsey ➡️ Startley ➡️ Chippenham ➡️ Studley ➡️ Bromham ➡️ Devizes
🔹 Options: Join for 1 lap (56 miles) or push on for the full 2 laps (112 miles)
🔹 Stops: Quick roadside comfort/fuel breaks + 20 min grab-and-go at Greggs after lap 1
This will be a continuous, consistent ride – not a smashfest but not leisurely either. Bad weather won’t stop Paul! 💪
👉 Come along and support Paul and Rich on what promises to be an epic endurance ride. Even if you’re not up for the full distance, joining for one lap is a great way to show support.
There will no other club rides tomorrow.

🚴♂️ Saturday Main Ride – Merkin’s Reverse Route 🚴♀️
This week we’ll be taking on the Merkin’s Reverse Route – a 78.2km loop with around 640m of climbing. We’ll roll out from the usual Southbroom School start point at 9am.
The route heads out through Potterne, Coulston, and Edington, before skirting past Trowbridge and turning north towards Holt. From there we’ll push up towards Box, cut across east to Neston and Lacock, and then climb Bowden Hill before sweeping down through Bromham.
We’ll enjoy a well-earned coffee and cake stop at Rowdey Cow before the final spin back into Devizes.
Looks set to be a cracking ride – see you at the start! 🚴♀️☕🍰

🌞 Weather: A beautiful 26°C and sunny – perfect cycling weather!
🚴♂️ Saturday Main Ride – 79km | Pronto, Frome Stop | Great Weather Incoming! ☀️
We’ll be heading out from the Devizes Leisure Centre at 9:00am, rolling through Rowde, Seend, and Keevil before sweeping through Westbury and on to our coffee and cake stop at Pronto Café in Frome ☕🍰. After refuelling, we’ll return via Dilton Marsh, Westbury, Edington, Coulston, Marston, Worton, and Potterne before cruising back into Devizes.

☁️ Saturday Main Ride – “Fairmile Reverse” ☁️
📍 Meet at Devizes Leisure Centre
🕘 Rolling out at 9:00am
This week we’re heading out on the Fairmile Reverse route – a scenic 78.8km loop with around 600m of climbing.
We’ll roll out past Allington, Wilcot, and Pewsey, making our way through Easton Royal and Wilton before heading south to Wexcombe. From there, it’s a smooth stretch across to Collingbourne Ducis, Everleigh, and then past Woodbridge and Woodborough.
☕ Coffee stop at Honey Street – always a favourite!
After coffee, we’ll head back in via Horton Road and finish back in Devizes.
🌡️ Forecast: 22°C and cloudy – perfect cycling weather. Not too hot, not too cold – just right.
Bring water, good legs, and your usual club spirit. See you on the start line!

🚴♂️ Saturday Main Ride – 90km | Honey Street Stop | Great Weather Incoming! ☀️
Join us this Saturday for a glorious spin through some of Wiltshire’s best backroads and views. We’ll roll out from DLC at 9:00am and take on a 90km route with around 800m of climbing, perfect for stretching the legs without overcooking them in the sun.
🌳 Route: Devizes → Bishop’s Cannings → Compton Bassett → Broad Town → up Hackpen Hill (yes, the climb!) → Marlborough → Great Bedwyn → Pewsey → back via Allington and Horton.
☕ Coffee Stop: The always-welcome Honey Street Café, around the 65km mark – ideal for a cool drink and some cake!
🌤️ Weather: Looks like a dry and sunny one – pack plenty of water, sunscreen, and a smile.
